EURO 07 – Rosslyn Chapel in Scotland

一齣《達文西密碼》,作者藉思潮天馬行空,將留存千百年的聖經故事名畫經典,一而再地易位細加枝節,為這歷史經典粉飾另一動人故事, 電影的確掀起全球討論熱潮, 同時也引發起教派對事的爭議,風頭可說是一時無兩! 如我早前所言, 管他這些畫作背後是否隱藏甚麼密碼或玄機，相信不少人看過這齣電影，心定必計劃其達文西之旅，前往歐洲各大博物館、藝術館、畫廊和修道院一睹這些名畫風采。有時虛搆的故事或予我們更大的空間和藉口去重新面對歷史, 認清真相, 這一趟, 或許我們得多失少呢!

風子這一趟並非衝著達文西而來,祗是咁近城隍廟,沒理由不去探探城隍爺爺一轉,而Rosslyn Chapel就在Edinburgh近郊位置,車程也不過是40分鐘左右!曾看過《達文西密碼》的粉絲們,定記得電影末段的那個細細Chapel, 同時也是發現主角身份的地點,有點可能會較大家失望,Chapel內的地下室並沒如電影橋段般載滿經典, 感覺上泠泠清清, 但Chapel內牆壁角落卻盡是無窮畫意,這也難怪文人忍不住手,要藉詞大作文章!

EURO 07 - Calton Hill in Edinburgh

Calton Hill is a hill in central Edinburgh locating just to the east of the New Town. Views of and from the hill are really nice that’s often used in photographs and paintings of the city. As shown, it is the sunset view from the Calton Hill.

A pibroch is a type of music native to the Scottish Highlands and performed on the Great Highland Bagpipe. The form is also played on the Scottish fiddle as part of a recent revival sometimes.

Edinburgh Castle

Edinburgh Castle, positing atop of the famous Edinburgh rock, is an ancient fortress with over one thousand years of history. Every year, it attracts over a million visitors and explains the reason why it can rank second of the Scotland’s most visited tourist attraction here. Human habitation of the site can date from the early 9th century BC. Except the great histroical attraction, a series of spectacular performance known as the Edinburgh Military Tattoo would be taken place on the Esplanade, at the top of the Royal Mile and in front of the castle, by every Auguest. The Tattoo is a parade of the pipes and drums of the Scottish regiments.

The Royal Mile
Castle Esplanade, Castlehill, Lawnmarket, High Street , Canongate and Abbey Strand make up the Royal Mile, which stretches thoroughfare of Edinburgh’s Old Town. The Royal Mile is an approximately one Scottish mile long and runs between two foci of history in Scotland. Rivalled only by Princes Street in the New Town, the Royal Mile is the busiest tourist street in Edinburgh Old Town.

Royal Botanic Garden
Founded in 1670, the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh is both a scientific institution and a tourist attraction. Originally it is built as a planting garden for medical purpose but nowadays it occupies four sites across Scotland each with its own specialist collection. Within the garden, various flowers and plants are planted that definitely offers a good habitat for different creatures such as squirrel to stay.

說起大英帝國,印象中是那套英式教學文化,處事含蓄兼又細顧禮儀,high-table-dinner或是afternoon-tea等,處處均表現其獨特風格。還有那一方格文化,在我看來很是含蓄乖巧的圖案,其原來是氏族權位等級的分野,也是勇氣跟驕傲的證明。大街大小巷裡,你必可找到售賣方格圖案衣服的店舖,閒說也有好幾百款式,任君選擇!

另,不得不提的是,方格圖案文化其實源自蘇格蘭人!以個人觀感出發,英格蘭若是驕紅色方格的話,那風子心中的蘇格蘭便是暖和的黃色方格,而大家熟悉的Burburry的方格款式便是一好例證!那麼彼岸的愛爾蘭便可歸納為綠色方格了!

蘇格蘭(Scotland)的地形天致可分為高低地,低地以Glasgow跟Edinburgh為主,盡是低矮丘陵平地綿延,高地則是優美湖泊,自然景觀美不勝收!市中心Princes Street上的Edinburgh Castle跟The Scotch Whisky Heritage Center都是不能錯過的;沿著Edinburgh Castle直下便是Royal Mile,鋪石坡道古舊石塊建築,殘留著中世紀風情,户外的一杯afternoon-tea,已夠消磨大半個下午!怕悶的,不妨到近郊的地方跑一轉,附近的Rosslyn Chapel因達文西密碼一片而忽然熱鬧起來,較遠的Highland Lochs or Castles都是個不錯的選擇!

EURO 07 - 長程短旅

二長四短機程，很是樂人也很磨人！

因為飛機延誤,保安過度嚴謹，包括我們在內，很多旅客一而再地錯過了接駁的航班，在侯機室內白白地磨了數句鐘！回程時更是要命, 所謂的兩句鐘轉駁時間，卻因飛機某某事故再度延誤，轉駁時間實則祗剩餘半句鐘，卻要在這短短半句鐘內轉Terminal Station, 搭接駁Bus兼過埋保安Checking，能及之的確匪異所思！很記得走廊處侯機室內盡是人去留空，機場工作人員也正收拾細軟收工歸去，看似這是當天的尾班夜機了，那刻心裡確有點兒慌，很害怕在此上演另一幕Terminal to Terminal的謊誕鬧劇! 在那看似是趕得及與趕不及的毫釐之間，我們唯有相信前者,盡力而為!經已記不起我們是如何的狂奔過欄，靠機場內的announcement認路尋找方位! 終於, 在關機門前的一秒鐘, 我們上了機！

人算是回來了, 行李卻還滯留異鄉，哎 ~

清晨仍在暈睡間,收音機娓娓傅來悅耳的淡淡弦樂,又是我喜愛的陳奕迅!那詞那境尢如近日親歷記事,今天我並非劇中主角,此情此景我卻身心感受,磨練總使人感到挫敗氣壞,同時也加速個人成長增添閱歷,是好是壞實見人見智,但願他日回顏,扣除今日的是與非,心仍可找到點滴光景回味,青春他其實並沒白長 ~

Life-Crossing

She decided to start another new phase of life and left us by the end of August. To me, somehow it’s a bit sad though I know her decision quite a while. People come and go nowadays with different reason. Yet, it’s still never easy to say goodbye, particularly for those you do care.

We are from the same department sharing a similar profile, and our lives keep crossing these few years. Once I was her tutor and be commented as a good demonstrator (just?) because I did all past-exam questions during their tutorial class. Another time we were room-mates and she just sat after mine then. Over the past several years, we were colleagues and kept closely contact and communication as well knowledge support to each other. She always calls me “師姐” when we meet and comments me treating her great. Do I?

Life needs change and refreshment when it reaches to certain extent. Hope the decision somehow could mature her in someway and offer her more insight how to pave her way in the future. I believe our lives will cross again in someday soon. Bless you here and always!
