Hunter Valley Wine Country's weather has been described as quite mild for the majority of the year, the winemakers love the Summer rains in November and December and hope it stays fine during the Vintage. Too much rain can cause mould on the foliage and rain near harvest can mean the grapes can be ruined. The winemakers keep a close eye on their livelihoods and take the appropriate precautions.

apsara,雖然價錢差不多,但喜歡自己去旅行,自己plan行程,自已book hotel, flight 或是自己去join local tour, 那體會比跟團來得有趣好玩. 其實不用等到50歲,有心的就坐言起行,年輕時看風景,玩樂的心態有別,老時回頭望會輕笑當時年少輕狂,到50歲再走一趟,又有另一感體會 :)
Too much rain during the preparation of the planting bed – wash away the nutrient
Too much rain when the plant first established can cause mould on the foliage
Too much rain before the berries formed will cause the plant to be over-grown; therefore, the berries will not be able to receive enough sunlight from all directions. In other words, the quality of the berries will be very inconsistent. If you don’t have enough manpower to trim out the weak, you will have a higher annual yield but grapes’ quality will varies. Winemaker will have a hard time to come up with the right blend for the vintage.
Too much rain after the berries formed will lower the sugar concentration and lost the flavor.
Rain near harvest can mean the grapes can be ruined (not enough sunlight will lover the sugar concentration). Too much sunlight will need quick harvesting to save the grapes.
Winemaking is not an easy job. Not to mention the crushing, tasting, mixing and barrel aging process. So, next time when you drink wine, pls. taste every single drop of the juice and think about the complexity of the whole process. It is a waste to pour and drink wine like water.

Winemakring somehow just likes a life, a relationship and an interest devoting. Even well preparation of the planting bed ahead, good the plant first established, just enough rain before the berries formed, enough sunlight from all directions, etc. chance still exists that wine goes poor in quality and no sweet while the haverst period.
Good/happy life isn’t a must. That may be another way of interpretation kowing how to show your appreciation is an art too. Thanks for sharing.
