JY, yup, it's a conference on bioinfomatics & biostatistics held someplace in China. To learn something new and insight from others is always good. Summer is coming and lots of conference would be held in Euro too, may u arrange one upto ur topic of interest. Have fun!

JY, conference attending somehow is quite boring particularly so for those topics you seldom exploring. But on the other hand it’s a good chance to explore something new and gain insight from others’ research. Bioinformtics and biostatictics is just a name topic and this round it focuses more on bio-related research interest like DNA, genes analysis and bio-medical statisitcs.
For books recommendation? Er.. which level or particular topic u you are looking for? If you are a science student and looks for some theoretical reference, may the book on the topic of Probability & Statistics fit your interest. if you are an arts student and just want to gain some knowledge/application, business/introduction to Statistics is an entry point. Actually, graduate school does offer research method for students and it covers lots of statisitcs theory and its application. You may consider take/sit one for information.
